Move over the solids and checks, it is time for prints to prevail. Check out all about the popular trend right here.

Invited for a cocktail night? And surely, like most men you are perplexed, and are scratching your head on to what to wear to this soiree and probably raiding your wardrobe to find an outfit that goes with this kind of a bash. This year, one of the big trends that those-in-the-know will be choosing is to swap the traditional frills of a classic suit for a more casual look.

Designer Pawan Sachdeva gives some proficient advice on how to stand out in an Indian cocktail wear. Apparently most men opt for safe options like grey, black or other dark tones but if you really want to stand out, then go for brighter shades like cobalt blue, olive green and give your outfit a contemporary edge. Prints are very much in vogue this season—be it printed pants or printed blazers. Pair them with a block coloured shirt or vice versa, as in printed shirt and block coloured suit.

For an undaunted look, go for checks or dark windowpane check trousers as it is a stylish alternative to your solid coloured ones. And avoid that matchy-matchy look, which is a common mistake that most men do.

Don’t be afraid to accessorise your outfit. Style it with men’s scarves and you can choose various ways to tie your scarf to make a statement among the crowd. Printed scarfs can add that extra edge to your outfits.

For an evening look, you can go for printed bandhgala coats or jackets in luxurious, rich fabrics to add a trendy quotient. And if going for an afternoon party and want to keep it simple yet quirky you can choose a denim shirt cum jacket with a printed trouser for a contemporary look.

“Bandgala and Jawahar jackets with digital prints like floral, non-geometric shapes, shaded colours paired with a dark trouser or breeches pant will go good for a cocktail night”, says designer Sadan Pande. He adds “prints are a big hit this year too; lots of damask prints, birds and animals are to watch out for.” A double tie and dye or ombre dyed short drape kurta in cottons and ombre linen or cotton jackets paired with printed vest or trousers will be a good attire for a bachelor party or a sun downer party.

With destination weddings becoming a norm especially beach wedding, one needs some stylish shorts in their wardrobe. Printed shorts with tucked in solid colour shirts are perfect attire for any pre-wedding function on the beach. They are perfect combination of classy and trendy!

This season a must have is floral prints. We can see that from all the latest fashion shows, that designers favoured these prints over the others. From jackets to shorts they are something that will add the spark required to any event. And yes if you heading for a beach wedding having a couple of them is a good idea. And if going all floral is not your style, then pick up pieces with prints just on the edges.

The trick lies in pairing the printed jackets. Please refrain from overdoing the look. Stick to just one printed garment at a time and make sure the other garments with which you are creating a look are solid coloured ones. Like pair the printed jacket with solid colour trousers and solid colour shirt.

But if you are someone who would rather stick to the basics but want something a little trendy then pair up the regular with printed shoes. Yes, just by adding these ‘in vogue’ shoes, you can change your look completely.

Apparently, we see that cocktail dressing is not really a wardrobe dilemma. Just remember to look polished in your semi formal attire. And as it said a little experiment harms no one, so go on and create your own print statement.
